There's Nothing Left.....

for this little girl to catch.

Ever since RiKenna was born she has been sick.....not really.....but seriously she is sick ALL of the time. So of course this week has been absolutely NO exception. I took her in....like the good Mom I am....haha...on Thursday for a Well-Child Check (which should really be called the What's Wrong now check) while I was there I was talking to the Dr. about Kenna's asthma (she's had the same cough now for um....months?) and how I once upon a time had all this medicine that I had gotten shortly before we moved to Flagstaff but had now run out.....anyhow....LONG story short.....she listened to her lungs and said yep she sounds like she has asthma let's get her back on the asthma medications and see how she does. So like the good Mom I am.....
We now do a Albeutrol and Pulmicort breathing treatment.... oh not just once but TWICE a day.....oh how we love it.....not really.....but seriously it's a pain in the {insert text here}! Not only did she suggest the breathing treatments but she also suggested that it's possible allergies could be causing the asthma to get worse SOOOO.... We also fight about taking this every morning.......mornings are so lovely at our house now! So since the little munchkin is in school and her teacher (heaven help her) has to listen to this little darling cough all day we received two of these.....
I spared you the picture of the other one but she also takes her inhalers to school with her with the lovely spacer to go along with them.

So life was going along just great until Friday afternoon.....ring....ring....who could it be but the school nurse calling to tell me that RiKenna has a 102 degree fever.....UGH....is all I have to say! I thought to myself how can anything be wrong we were just at the Dr. and she said everything was GREAT!! So once again being the wonderful Mom I am.....we went home and watched movies.....surely a little Motrin and life will be good! Well Saturday and Sunday rolled around she ran a slight fever but nothing to get excited about....I'm sure she's just getting used to the medicine again right.....Monday is the same and Tuesday comes....ring...ring....School Nurse calling RiKenna has now thrown up all over the gym floor and is once again running a fever....Ok wonderful Mom 5 days with a fever....something is wrong. Ring...Ring....I call the Dr. and the Dr. says bring RiKenna right in again (haha I crack myself up sometimes) So off to the Dr. again....this time we see another Dr. because the one from the other day is off.....oh those Dr. hours.....however this is a good thing... a fresh pair of eyes decides that something could possibly be wrong so she sends us to get a chest x-ray. She doesn't make us wait any longer and reads the x-ray herself and then swabs for the Flu....you guessed it....she has it! So the Dr. writes a couple prescriptions (the 11th one in 5 days) and tells me that she will call me if the radiologist says anything different about the "dark spot" in the bottom left lung. So now we have added....
A teaspoon of each of these to our morning......Well if you thought my day was done.....it's not....I got a call from the Dr. this morning...."How's she doing Becky?" My reply "Well I guess she's trying to sleep something off because she is still asleep!" (she called at 11:30 this a.m.!!) She said well I'm glad I gave you the antibiotic yesterday because the radiologist called me back this morning and the "dark spot" appears to be pneumonia......OH LOVELY....those weren't my words or my thoughts but you get it! So needless to say I have been home the last 2 days and will be home for 1 more tomorrow with my endlessly sick child.......not to mention I have set a record of prescriptions ....the pharmacist knows mine and Kenna's name......not good!!
One more thought for everyone that is thinking I'm crazy for not knowing my child is REALLY sick.....she has NEVER acted sick.....NEVER has and I don't think she ever will. I'm not sure she knows what it feels like to feel good! Poor kid ....they keep telling me she'll grow out of it...I guess when she's 40....everything great happens then right!!

Being the "good mom you are", it sounds like you took good care of your daughter - but what a headache - oh wait, don't add one more ailment ;)
